LOTD: SHOEMINT'S JOLLY IS FIERCE

Out of sheer coincidence, we ended up wearing the same shoes today: ShoeMint's Jolly Pony Hair Wedge in Leopard. While Elsie wore her pair with a neutral color scheme for work, Jael went with a dark color palette for a day of running errands around the city.

Shoes: ShoeMint Jolly in Leopard (here)
Nails: Chanel Le Vernis Nail Color in Lotus Rouge (here)

Scarf: Primark UK (similar here on sale! & here)
Sweater: Forever 21 (old; similar here)
Top: Republic UK (similar here & here)
Jeggings: Hollister (here on sale!) These are a super warm alternative to leggings for Winter

Rings: H&M (old)
Bracelet: Jewelmint Polar Ends Bracelet (here)
Earrings: Jewelmint Rachel Earrings (here)

Top: (old; somewhat similar here)
Belt: H&M (old; find similar here)
Cardigan: Urban Outfitters (similar here)
Jeans: Forever 21 (similar here)

Bracelet: Jewelmint Bird Cage Bangle (here)
Lotion: Bath & Body Works True Blue Spa Super-Softening Hand Lotion (here on sale!)

Overall, the Jolly is pretty awesome. The shoes are comfortable and look super fierce. The wedge measures a little over 4 inches tall with approximately a 0.5 inch platform. The sole is non-slip, perfect for trekking around without having to worry about slippery sidewalks or uneven pavement. They retail for $79.98, but there's usually deals for new members. The website says that the sizing runs small and recommends ordering up 1 size, but luckily, we both ordered 1/2 a size up instead.

That's all for now, hope this little review was helpful for those of you who may have been on the fence about the Jolly Wedge!

BLACK FRIDAY 2011

So this year's Black Friday was kind of a dud. We started extra early this year, being that Urban Outfitters in SoHo decided to open its doors at 12AM. As usual, all sale items were an additional 50% off. The selection wasn't that great this time around, but we managed to still have fun and score a couple items. Mind you, these were not super amazing steals, but still enough to keep us coming back for more every year. Pardon these silly pictures. Most of them were candids that were taken because no mirror was available for us to look at ourselves in. All photos taken via iPhone 4S because neither of us had a camera.

Such a cute dress with amazing beading. Seen here with a scarf as a makeshift belt. Alas, this was too big for Elsie :( No deal.

The face says it all: too big! No deal.

 Too small. No deal.

Sheer blue top with embroidery. Deal! Jael got this as well.

Cute blue dress with faux fur vest. Yes to the dress, nay to the vest. It had strange, angular flaps that didn't quite look right.

 Strapless Navajo-print corset dress. Deal!

Mid-sentence photo. Deal! Elsie got this as well.

Super steal of the night: $5 whale-print scarf. Yay!

So after we finished at Urban, we walked down Broadway to see if any other stores were open. As we were walking by Hollister, we saw that there was yellow caution tape plastered across the entrance. Apparently the store was burglarized by unruly shoppers who grew tired of waiting for the store to open! See the story here.

Nothing else was open except for Forever 21 and Old Navy and we didn't feel like waiting 2.5 hours for H&M and other stores to open, so we ended the night early this year. So that's it for now. We're too tired to post any individual links to the clothes we got. They're most likely available online here if you care to browse during Cyber Monday. Until next time!

WORK HARD, PARTY HARDER

If any of you guys are like us and follow Banana Republic's facebook page, you may have noticed that they've been holding a New Year's Eve Party Contest. Basically all you have to do is submit a photo of yourself in your favorite "party" outfit and you could win a trip to NYC for New Year's Eve! Now, obviously, being that we live in NYC already, we were hesitant to even enter this contest. However, we ultimately decided to go through with it anyway because any excuse to dress up is a good one, right? We thought so. Besides, the cold, drab weather in the city has been making it more and more difficult to find any inspiration to throw on anything fancy schmancy. Anyway, here are our entries:

 Lace-print dress: Rodarte for Target
Nude pumps: Franco Sarto (similar here; cheapies here)
Belt: Zac Posen for Target
Necklace: Forever 21 (similar here)
Beaded clutch: Republic.co.uk (similar here)
Lipsticks: Chanel Rouge Allure in "Amusing" & Dior Addict in"Garconne"

Dress: Alexander McQueen for Target
Belt: Zac Posen for Target
Shoes: Aldo (here for better pics and an awesome blog!)
Clutch: Marc Jacobs (here)
Frames: Ray-Ban (here in Tortoise Shell)
Lips: Wet 'n' Wild (as seen here)

It was such a coincidence that we each chose Target dresses for our party outfits! Great minds think alike :)

Hope you all enjoy the short work week and have a delicious Thanksgiving!! Gobble gobble!

SUNDAY STEALS

While half the city was running the ING marathon on Sunday, we were running to catch good deals...at the Lucky Shops Event.

We bought Sunday tickets, so the event started at 11:00AM and of course weekend train service sucks in NYC. Thankfully we still managed to get there around 11:15. #winning

First stop... REBECCA MINKOFF (you should have see Jael and I, it looked as if we had found GOLD!) After an effortless (and by effortless we mean stalking the living shit out of people and the bags they were holding, waiting for them to put one down and BOOM we go for the kill, stealth mode style.. kind of reminds me of the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic.. the scene where she puts down her Gucci boots but then fights for it because another woman wanted it HAHA) digging session, we found love <3 - we both got the MAC clutch (Jael got it in a Cherry Red color and I got it in a Sand Grey color) and also the Circle Quilted Swing (Jael got the Royal Blue and I got it in a Cherry Red).

Circle Quilted Swing in Cherry Red
Circle Quilted Swing in Royal Blue
MAC Clutch in Sand Gray

Second stop... YUMI KIM! The Yumi Kim boutique on Ludlow Street always has the cutest dresses and tops on display. The prices at the Lucky Shops Event were unbeatable! Jael picked up a top for $35 and a dress for $50.

Jayne Dress

Yumi Top

Exhausted from walking around sweating we decided it was time to be silly and take some photo booth pictures! :)

Overall- we had an awesome time, especially with our new handbags, we were happy campers, and we each also won a $25 dollar AMEX gift card (this will go towards our new camera)!

On a site note: Congrats to TAN for finishing the marathon!

Wrapping it up with our outfits! These photos were taken outside the Moschino store. Cute window displays, no?

schwinggg betches always win :)

Enjoy!

HALLOWEEN 2011

Happy Halloween! This weekend's winter storm prevented us from going out and partying it up Halloween weekend. Instead, we decided to spend Halloween night walking around the West Village.

This year, Elsie went as Nicki Minaj, complete with her pink wig, pink lipstick, pink nails, pink bra, and arm tattoo. Jael went as a Japanese anime school girl, complete with well, big creepy anime eyes..

Eyes shut!
Eyes open!

A somewhat Snooki-ish Nicki Minaj <3 Sadly, the wig didn't make it through the night :(

Close-up of Jael's eyes while getting ready to go out

Angry Chicken

Ghost Busters!

Reason #435,343,250 why we need a better camera

Awesome gym teacher we wish we had in high school

Had to get a picture with flash after watching the Halloween episode of Big Bang Theory

Freaky

Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!

Sunday night was spent at Fig & Olive Meatpacking for a long overdue "reunion dinner". The     mellow, calm atmosphere with dimmed lighting was perfect for a lazy Sunday dinner. We were so hungry we forgot to take pictures of the delicious food (sorry!) Topics of discussion were: boys, family, Black Friday, boys, shoes, jewelry, and oh yeah, boys.
